Our Middle School:
The goal of our middle school is to offer early adolescents, who are negotiating the dynamics of their emerging relationships with adults, a team of instructors who will acts as their supporters and guides.
Thus the number of professors is voluntarily limited in order to ensure relationships with them are highly impactful:
Our French, History and Geography teacher, after a rigorous education at the Lycée Fénelon and La Sorbonne, worked in the national middle school system in France and abroad, in addition to teaching at a French lycée (high school). His knowledge of English makes it possible for him to be available for both French- and English-speaking students.
Our Mathematics and Sciences instructor possesses a doctorate-level degree in Science and Mathematics Education, and has also taught at various primary/secondary and at the university level. His impeccable mastery of mathematical didactic techniques and the self-directed approach are key to his ability to enable learning in relation to projects involving the implementation of cross-functional skills.
In the wake of a brilliant university career teaching education, history and philosophy, our English (UK/US) instructor taught in one public and one private school in New York City. His training as a teacher in the U.S. is central to his current ability to create a melting pot of cultures, in addition to being the standard bearer of the principles of customised, self-directed learning for children. His varied interests including music and theatre enable him to offer children multiple pathways for building the lives they will lead in middle school.
Our Primary School:
Children are greeted by two instructors per class, plus any assistants as may be needed, in order to ensure each is individually monitored.
Sylvie, who is the teacher for our youngest students, followed her solid career as a university psychologist with 15 years experience at a Montessori school working with 5-7 year-olds. She is especially interested in difficulties in learning to read and write, and even volunteers her time and professional abilities to charities helping children with disabilities in these areas.. Jeanne, another of our Montessori pedagogical specialists, earned her wings during her time as a teacher and principal of a Montessori school. Her high standards for writing quality have been crucial to preparing our students for admission into middle school. Self-directed learning has also proved pivotal in enabling our children to integrate effectively into that next phase of their educations. The children in our bilingual English section are able to benefit from the advantages of being taught by an English-speaking instructor.
Our Principal, who enjoys degrees in both law and education (Montessori training and Education Sciences), is also our Director of Pedagogy.
A clinical psychologist supports the education team as well.
Each semester the Wikids School also retains an instructor trainer charged with reviewing our programmes and providing specialised training to instructors. With over thirty years experience working with primary school teachers, our trainer provides an invaluable outside perspective on the school's pedagogical practices, processes and techniques.
The national education ministry also conducts periodic audits and reviews using its own inspectors.
